My Health Choices My Way: How we are transforming health care transitions for people with intellectual disability

The webinar was hosted by the Disability Innovation Institute

We introduced our new project called My Health Choices My Way.

We talked about the project led by
1. Iva Strnadová
2. Emma Palmer
3. Julie Loblinzk Refalo OAM
4. Skie Sarfaraz
What we talked about

We said that moving from child doctors to adult doctors can be scary.

We explained that many young people with intellectual disability
are not taught how to speak up
- about their health choices.

Often doctors talk over young people
- and only speak to their parents.

We said that this is not right.

We want to change it.
Our mascot competition

At the webinar we also talked about our mascot competition

We invited young people with intellectual disability
- between 12 and 28 years old.

Participants need to create a mascot that shows
- good health care

The prize is an iPad

We will also show the mascots on our website.
Watch the video to meet our team and hear everything we had to say!
